Student Spotlight: Marni Frischer
Marni Frischer is one of KU Hillel’s newest interns. This week, we spoke with Marni to discuss her journey to KU and her favorite aspects about KU Hillel. Check it out here:
What brought you to KU?
I chose KU because I felt at home during my first visit. It felt like such a comfortable and welcoming environment from the first time that I visited and truly ended up being the best choice for me. I was excited about the Jewish community at KU, and I am very thankful I have made Hillel such a large part of my college experience.
Why did you decide to stay in the Midwest for college?
I was not set on staying in the Midwest, I toured several places but none of them gave me the same feeling I had at KU.
How has college been as a Jewish teen?
Being Jewish in college has allowed me to connect with so many other people. It is great being able to share similar experiences with others, and hearing how similar their experiences are. It creates an instant bond with so many other people!
In what ways are you staying connected to the KU Jewish community?
I stay connected to the KU Jewish community by attending Hillel events as well as taking Jewish classes and programs. I am currently in the Jewish Leadership Advocacy Fellowship program, too.
How has your experience with KU Hillel been?
KU Hillel allowed me to stay connected with my old Jewish friends, and I met many more new Jewish friends, too. I was very active in NFTY, and there are several of my NFTY friends that attend Hillel events as well. I love being able to continue these friendships in a new context, as we go through new experiences together. KU Hillel also introduced me to many people that I did not know before, and I am extremely thankful for that.
What are you doing as a Social Media Intern?
As an intern, I work on social media content with the other interns. We create content as well as post it on various social media platforms.
How have you enjoyed working as an intern for KU Hillel?
I have very much enjoyed working as an intern. Our weekly meetings are so much fun and I always look forward to seeing Ariel, Corey, and Savannah!
