Sam Kricsfeld selected for Hillel International Writers Program

KU Hillel is thrilled to announce Sam Kricsfeld’s selection for the Hillel International Writers Program. This highly selective, writing-intensive program gives six Hillel students across the world the opportunity to grow as journalists.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sam to the program, and we’re excited that he’ll have the chance to work with five other talented students from across the nation to tell Hillel’s stories, hone their journalism skills, and learn from experienced Jewish journalists and Hillel professionals,” said Hillel International Director of Communications Leilah Mooney Joseph.
Kricsfeld, a senior Journalism major at KU, looks forward to deepening his love of journalism throughout this semester.
“I’m also looking forward to getting to know the other Jewish writers around the U.S. through the Writers Program,” Kricsfeld said.
After encouragement to apply from the KU Hillel team, where Kricsfeld is a Writing Intern, he went through two rounds of interviews before he found out he was selected.
The process is selective but KU Hillel knew Kricsfeld’s love for writing would shine through, said Savannah Kannberg, KU Hillel Development & Marketing Director.
“Sam has such a passion for Jewish writing and Hillel, so I am so happy that he will get to combine the two with this new program and reach new people with his work,” Kannberg said.
When Kricsfeld isn’t working on articles and press releases at KU Hillel and writing for his journalism classes at KU, you can find his bylines in the Omaha Jewish Press and the Kansas City Jewish Chronicle.
He’s also a creative writing minor so he’s “spent the majority of the last few years on Microsoft Word,” Kricsfeld said.
“I want to thank KU Hillel for letting me know about the program and encouraging me throughout the whole application process,” he said.
The Hillel International Writers Program starts this month, and we look forward to reading his first assignments!
